Graham Burstow

It is with our greatest regrets, that the members and friends of the Toowoomba Photographic Society must announce the passing of our club patron, master photographer and friend to many in our domain.

Graham Burstow OAM FPSQ FAPS FRPS FPSA EFIAP HAFB HFAPS PSQA, has passed away amongst his family in Toowoomba.

Graham joined the Toowoomba Photographic Society in the 1950’s and remained a member until his passing.

A Foundation Member of the Australian Photographic Society, member, President and finally Patron of TPS, Graham’s contributions were not limited to photography alone.

Graham was a part of many Toowoomba organisations; including Choral singing.

An eloquent, thoughtful and fun loving gentleman to the end, we love and respect what Graham contributed as a Judge and educator in amateur photography circles.

Your legacy not only lives on; in the many wonderful books and publications, but also in the hearts, minds and collective knowledge you’ve given.

We, the Toowoomba Photographic Society Committee and Members (both past and present) send our condolences to Grahams Family in this time.

Vale Graham Burstow OAM

2022 Australian Photographic Society CUP

As mentioned last night. The Toowoomba Photographic Society entered into the Australian Photographic Society’s annual “Cup” competition.

In 2021 we placed 35th alongside 3 other clubs on 316 points.
This year we placed 23rd alongside 4 other clubs on 329 points.

I am extremely proud of our members images that we entered, it’s fantastic to see an improvement in our placing.

A Special mention to Andrew Raguse for one of his images being selected as a representative of Australia competing in the 4 nations with Australia going up against The Photographic Society of South Africa, the Canadian Association for Photographic Art and the Photographic Society of New Zealand.

Field Day

DATE: 27 August 2022
TIME: Starting at 4PM
Where: Jondaryn Woolshed
264 Jondaryan Evanslea Rd, Jondaryan QLD 4403
Price: $10 to cover entry fee

Weather permitting, we are heading to the Jondaryn Woolshed. We are meeting around 4PM so that members can walk around with some light and look at locations and pick an area where they will be photographing.
Once the sun goes down the fun begins. Blue hour silhouettes could be an option or wait a bit longer for the stars to come out.

As time goes on the Milky Way will present itself and be photographable above your chosen subject, from around 7:30pm onwards (depending on width of your lens etc).

Light paint a shed, tractor, tree – the choice is yours.

Alternatively, face your camera towards the south to get circular star trails and compose it with your subject to make it look like its being sucked up into space.

This is a night members do not want to miss!
