Graham Burstow

With the recent passing of Graham Burstow the Committee met last night and have agreed to bring in the “Graham Burstow Award – “Judges Choice Mono Image of the month”.
Both print and digital will be eligible to receive this award, it will be chosen by the Judge of that month similar to the Alice Black Award, the Alice Black Award will change slightly to become the “Judges Choice – Colour Image of the month”.
The Graham Burstow Award will commence immediately to include images entered into the “Disappearing Technologies” set subject and beyond, however they will NOT currently attract points to your pointscores, once the 2023 competition starts then the Graham Burstow award will attract a further 2 points as will the Alice Black.

Skills Night – 23/08/2022

We will be doing a night sky & light painting skills night on the 23/08/2022.
A short run through of night sky and light painting photography will happen at DeMolay and we will then move from there to do some practical light painting practice.
More details about what to bring closer to the date.

Field Day August

DATE: 27 August 2022
TIME: Starting at 4PM
Where: Jondaryan Woolshed
264 Jondaryan Evanslea Rd, Jondaryan QLD 4403
Price: $10 to cover entry fee – Please pay here, or speak to Val Shield at DeMolay
https://tpsi.org.au/store/astro-field-day/

Weather permitting, we are heading to the Jondaryan Woolshed. We are meeting around 4PM so that members can walk around with some light and look at locations and pick an area where they will be photographing.
Once the sun goes down the fun begins. Blue hour silhouettes could be an option or wait a bit longer for the stars to come out.

As time goes on the Milky Way will present itself and be photographable above your chosen subject, from around 7:30pm onwards (depending on width of your lens etc).

Light paint a shed, tractor, tree – the choice is yours.

Alternatively, face your camera towards the south to get circular star trails and compose it with your subject to make it look like its being sucked up into space.

This is a night members do not want to miss!

Focus Stacking

We are seeking a volunteer from the members to do a talk and demonstration on how to use the “focus stacking” technique.
If you feel you have the skills in this area please contact the committee discuss further on committee@tpsi.org.au
