Interclub Submissions – Thank you

Sandra, Roberta and Travis would like to thank everyone for submitting images for the Queensland Interclub Competition.

Everyone’s images were excellent and we were privileged to have been able to go through them. You all made it a very difficult task for the three of us to choose just 21 images to represent our society.

The competition is to be held on the 11th of September, after that we can release a slideshow (similar to the APS Cup video) with the 21 images chosen.

St Vincent’s Hospital Photography Request

Information Provided by John Stewart:

St Vincent’s Hospital is seeking to purchase photos from our members to display in their new Emergency Department. They’re looking for local landscapes, i.e. from the Toowoomba, Darling Downs and the Lockyer Valley area, and they can be in landscape or portrait format. In particular, for the Emergency Department, they are seeking very calming/soothing images (water, nature etc).
The hospital is fairly particular about the images they select. The photos need to have a certain wow factor and be technically excellent. If you need to get some ideas about what they are looking for you can visit the hospital, once the current restrictions are over, from 8am to 8pm and have a look at the framed photos on the walls that they’ve purchased from our members and professional photographers in the past. Please comply with COVID requirements which can be viewed on the St Vincent’s website: https://www.svpht.org.au/patients…/visiting/visiting-hours

Submitted images need only be of sufficient resolution for viewing on a monitor so they can be about the same size and resolution as required for TPS monthly competition entries, i.e. max 2MB with the long side 2000px. However, if you are lucky enough to have an image or images selected by the hospital, the files need to be of sufficient resolution so they can be printed to approximately A1 size, i.e. 59.4 x 84.1 com. These files should be jpegs of at least 8MB saved at high quality at 300 dpi in either sRGB or Adobe 1998 colour spaces.
The hospital will pay $250 for each selected photo.
You can send your photos to Cath Neill, who is an Executive Assistant at Vincent’s, at this email address: cath.neill@svha.org.au Cath will also answer any questions you may have about image requirements etc.
There’s no limit on the number of images you can submit but be aware that their email server can only handle a maximum of about 15MB per email so it will be necessary to send the files in batches if you have more than a total of 15MB.

2021 APS Cup – Results & Entries

The trans-tasman cup is back on for the second half of 2021.

Toowoomba VS Howick, as most would know Toowoomba won the first round titled “In our Town”.
Get creative with the subject, Images can be taken in any location, but must have been taken in September 2021 only.

Competition will open 1st September, images to be uploaded to myphotoclub.
Closes 11:59pm 30th September

Skills night 27/07/2021, 7PM @DeMolay House. “The judging process”

Tonight we put into practice what Tryg spoke about in last weeks MicroSkills regarding the judging process. Members will have the opportunity to review a number of images, provide some commentary and give an overall score using the clubs keypad judging system.

This will give us the opportunity to test out the system to ensure it is working for the upcoming interclub.
