Our aim is to promote, improve, share and enjoy photography in Toowoomba and the surrounding district offering many services, all specifically designed to improve photography and photographic skills in a friendly social atmosphere. Membership is open to all comers regardless of whether you are a beginner, an amateur or a professional photographer.

Judging Night 12/04/2022 @ DeMolay 7PM

Tonight we have a judging night at DeMolay for Set Subject Portraits.
Two guest judges will be joining us over Zoom for the night.

The committee have agreed that we will be following the Queensland Government guidelines regarding Vaccinations.
Masks are no longer required, but members are welcome to wear them if they feel to do so.
To attend DeMolay in person you MUST have received both the first and second vaccination and have proof as such. The booster is currently not a requirement, however this is likely to change in the near future.
Please ensure you have your vaccination proof with you when you attend DeMolay, this can be a print out of the certificate from Medicare or using the Medicare / QLD Check in App on your phone. Without this proof you will not be permitted entry.
You will also still be required to check-in using the QLD Check In APP and QR code.

The definition of a stranger is a person you do not know, someone unknown in a place or a community, or a person who is unfamiliar with something. Tell their story in the image.

The discussion will be around strangers and how to approach them. Members will be encouraged to speak about their own experiences with this and other aspects of street photography.

April 2022 Trans-Tasman Howick Comp “Nature”

The Trans-Tasman cup comp between us and Howick Photographic Society is back!

For the first comp of 2022, the subject is “Nature”, images can be taken anywhere but must have been taken during April 2022.

A competition has been created on our MyPhotoClub website for you to upload your images which opens April 01. At the end of the month the images will be reviewed by the committee and the best images will be submitted for independent judges review.

Skills Night 22/03/2022 – 7PM – City Night Walk

Tomorrow night we will be doing a City Night Walk. Members will be able to practice some techniques from previous microskills sessions such as zoom pulls, light painting, long exposure, light trails or even night city SCAPES.
Please circulate to members without email
Meeting Location: Coffee Club CNR Margaret & Victoria Streets
When: 7PM
Time Leaving: Walk is to start around 7:15PM.
Distance: Plan is for 1.5KM but can be cut short depending on time.
Ending: Approx 8PM at Coffee Club CNR Margaret & Victoria Streets.
What should I bring:

  • Camera, Battery and Cards.
  • Lens (try and bring one that will give you maximum flexibility so you dont have to change in the dark).
  • Tripod / Monopod (Do not setup on walkways where you could become a tripping hazard for the public, or other members).
  • Flash or Torch (to practice light painting and help you see).

Someone will be at DeMolay Directing Members to the meeting area from 6:45PM to 7:10PM. After that a note will be put on the front door.
