Graham Harris CF FAPS AFIAP GPU CR-2 QPSA PSQA will present a retrospective on his photographic journey on the 25th February 2020.
Graham has been photographing since his early years growing up on various properties throughout New South Wales. He continued this passion in his working life with the Department of Primary Industries in Queensland and with a young family at Inglewood, Monto and Biloela.
In 2004 he joined the Toowoomba Photographic Society and stared entering our local aggregate competition. In 2007 he entered his first National Photographic competition and 2009 started entering International Salons, gaining some success with acceptances which has enabled him to obtain photographic honours with the following organisations:
- Australian Photographic Society (APS)
- Federation Internationale de l’Art Photographique (FIAP)
- Global Photographic Union (GPU)
- Photographic Society of America (PSA)
In his presentation Graham will reflect on his photographic journey and provide an overview of his experience with entering photos into competition. He will show examples of his successful images, and also those that have not been as successful in gaining acceptances. He will demonstrate the post-processing used to make the most of the images he captures and enters into competition.
Set Subject: Action
This can include animate or inanimate objects involved in any form of action. It is not limited to human activity. The possibilities are infinite but as long as the main thrust of the image implies action then it will be acceptable under the definition.

We all recognise Graham’s ‘Dorothea Lange’ shot on the cover, and I for one, can’t wait to get my hands on a copy and see what’s inside.

Set Subject: Song or Film Title
The image must bring to mind the title of a song or film which is in the public domain, either recent or historical. This can be achieved either by word association or scene association with elements of the image providing clear clues as to the title of a valid song or film.

The Image Challenge is “Repetition”.
The topic is Photographer’s Retrospective by Graham Burstow
Image Challenge: Repetition
Set Subject: Self Portrait
A Self-portrait is a representation of an artist photographed by the artist. The self-portrait is more than a selfie or snapshot because it is about capturing the essence of the artist’s identity and attitude and personality.
The self-portrait can be considered as an act of introspection, self-exploration or a visual diary.
Consideration needs to be given to background, dress and position, angle and can include several approaches – environmental, constructionist, candid and creative.
