Our President and committee have been asked to select members to attend this preview. Details are below for those members who have been selected
We are excited to invite you to a walk-through of our upcoming show,
Eclipse.
The media and VIP opportunity will occur on Thursday 21 March at 7:30pm
in the Queens Park Botanic Gardens and offer an exclusive preview of the
journey in store.
Eclipse is a magical and immersive Luna Light Journey that will awaken
the Gardens nightly, from Friday 22 March until Saturday April 13.
Eclipse is presented by Toowoomba Regional Council and is created by
LASERVISION (the world’s leading creator of light, water, and sound
shows). Our Luna Light Journeys span Australia, are loved by the local
region, and often sell out well in advance of the final night of the
show.
Excitingly, this is the first Luna Light Journey we’ve created for the
Darling Downs/SQ Country region.
Media walk-through details:
* Date – Thursday 21 March (the night before opening night)
* Time – Arrive from 7:20pm for a 7:30pm start
* Location – Queens Park Botanic Gardens
* Meeting point – Please meet at the stone arch entrance to the
Botanical Gardens on Lindsay Street. The group will be welcomed by
Shannon Brooks (CEO), then guided through the show.
* Interview opportunity – Shannon Brooks and the Mayor and/or
Councillors will be available for comment from 7:00pm – 7:15pm. They
will be located just inside the stone arch entrance.
Members will meet at the Cobb & Co Museum Cafe at 9:30 on Saturday 23rd March for morning tea and discussion. Everyone will be given a set of clues to help identify the the subjects to be photographed and the style of photography (high key, slow shutter speed, etc.). At the conclusion of the hunt a final clue will lead you to the venue for lunch and de-briefing. Treasure Hunt photos will be uploaded and judged by the Treasure Hunt organisers with points for correctly identified clues and photographic merit. Winners will be announced at the April club meeting with prizes for first, second and third placegetters. Members will have to register for this outing so appropriate cafe bookings can be made. Further details will be provided in a later email.

- Music – As a photographer can you meet the challenge of music?
Besides the obvious, photographing the making of music–musicians and concerts, instruments and equipment, I think music photography is also about capturing an artist’s “sound” in an image. A good music photo should communicate what the artist is about, not only what they sound like but also their personalities. But the end result needs to be generally pleasing, what appeals to some people will not appeal to others.
But don’t just stop there, or even start there. What makes music to your ears? I don’t want to put that in concrete terms, but there is music in nature, and to convey that in photography requires thought, planning and skill–oh yes, timing and opportunity.
2. Broken, Bent or Busted
Self explanatory perhaps, but everything bent isn’t busted, and everything broken, bent or busted may not appear to be, nor are they all “things”.
