The Nightscape Photography Field Day with John Stewart is this coming Saturday (3 August 2024). We will meet at 4:30pm at St Paul’s Anglican Church, Umbiram to set up to capture the Milky Way.
St Paul’s, Umbiram is located at 206 Wyreema-Athol Road. Directions to this location provided below:
- take Anzac Avenue south towards Pittsworth
- follow the Gore Highway until Short Road
- Turn left into Short Road
- Follow Short road until Wyreema-Athol Road
- Turn right into Wyreema-Athol Road
- Follow east along Wyreema-Athol Road until St Paul’s Church (on your right)
- Travel time about 25min

The New Moon sets at sunset so it will be a dark night. The forecast is for a clear sky with a minimum of 6 degrees (so it will be cold). Remember to bring:
- your camera with a wide lens (brush up on how to set your camera to manual mode and bring your manual)
- a tripod
- a red light torch (or headlamp)
- warm clothes
- drinks and snacks – we will be out late (at least 11pm)
