Members and friends are invited to attend our Club and Aggregate Competition Night meetings, held at DeMolay House – 90 Margaret St Toowoomba (Opposite Queens Park) on the second Tuesday of every month, where competition images are critiqued and members are encouraged to discuss their photography in an informal social setting.
Tutorials and learning sessions are held via Zoom on the first Tuesday of the month. On the third Tuesday of the month we hold an Image Review night where members images are reviewed by other members. Constructive feedback guide members in improving their images.
On the fourth Tuesday of the month we have a guest speaker presenting via Zoom
We hold regular field days and workshops throughout the year. This provides opportunities to socialise and hone our photographic skills. Details of these events are emailed to all members and posted on both our website, and our calendar.
Our guest speaker for this month is Eva Polak from New Zealand. As a photographer, artist, author and teacher, Eva Polak is well known for her enthusiasm and passion for impressionist photography.
She is the author of five books: Impressionist Photography Techniques – A Step-by-Step Guide to Creating Great Images by Using Your Digital Camera, Transcended Light, The Secret Life of Dandelions, outlining ways to Use Your Camera for a Painterly Effect, The Vibrant Palette of Colour: Unlocking the Magic of Hues and The Magical World of Slow Shutter Speed The step-by-step guide to in-camera impressionist photography techniques
Eva Polak has had three solo exhibitions and participated in various group exhibitions. Her photographs are in private collections in New Zealand, Australia and Europe.
Her presentation is titled How to Be an Artist with the Camera. During her talk, she will cover a variety of interesting topics related to the world of art and photography. She will begin by discussing how to find beauty in the world around us and share some tips on how to develop and improve our visual skills. We will explore the fascinating relationship between the left and right brain and how it affects our ability to create and appreciate art.
She will delve into the visual language of light, colours, and lines. She will explain how to use these elements effectively to create powerful visual imagery and convey emotions and messages through art.
After the presentation, she will invite the participants to ask questions and engage in a discussion to enhance their understanding of the topics further. Additionally, she will share her personal techniques and methods for creating my photographs.
